How do you get house cats to stop fighting?

nhalleycat asked:

I have a 7 yr. old spaid female cat . About 6 months ago we got a 8 month old nutered male cat. Both cats are in and out side cats. At night they are both in. The male beats up the female all the time. He stauks her out side and jumps on her and hair goes flying. I seperate them in 2 different parts of the house when they are both home. Is there any way I can get the male cat to leave the female alone out side of getting rid of him? I really like him other wise. He is a bully ALL the time with the female. She can not walk, sit or stand with out him jumping on her and scratching and biting her. She runs from him and will not come home if he is waiting for her out side. He keeps her off our property. Any suggestions would be greatly appreacheated. Thanks in advance.
I bring the male in so the female will come home. I am always bringing in a cat in the front door and going to the other door to get the other one. LOL Thanks for all your answeres

We have a 2 year old female and a 5 month old male. They fought at first but now you can tell they like each other and are just playing. I grew up in a house with 6 cats and they just learned to avoid each other. They will realize that they both live there and will get along. ntil then maybe you should make sure the male cat stays inside so the female can come home.

I had 2 female kittens about 6 months, they were not fixed. then we got a 7 y/o male that is fixed. him and the kittens did not get along for 3 weeks. Then all of the sudden they were fine, there indoors all the time. it will take time for the other cat to get used to the new one. Just give them time

I have 5 housecats all of them spayed or neutered and the 3 boys ALWAYS pick on the 2 girls.I think they just enjoy annoying them cause the girls don’t really fight back, just hiss and growl mostly. The boys are just too rough with them but no one has ever been hurt. They have all lived with each other for at least 7 years in our house and curl up and sleep together and clean each other. We stopped worrying about them several years ago…they just do what they do! I think the girls must like it some cause they could kick at least one of our boys a**** if they wanted!
